About me

Hi – I’m Chandra Moon from Bristol.

I’m a singer songwriter and event manager from Bristol. I have released a couple of albums of my own songs which are available at the link above and I’m working on a third album. I regularly gig with my small band Chandra Moon Trio, comprising the multi-instrumentlalist Paddy Uglow and percussionist Jimi Can – usually round Bristol. I’ll post upcoming gig dates on this blog.

I also do lots of Sabar drumming – a form of drumming from Senegal and regularly organise and participate in workshops and performances with the Sabar group Jappo, led by the wonderful Modou Diouf both here in UK and in Gambia.

I have two wonderful grown up children, two step children and my husband and I have eight grandchildren between us!

    We met quite a few years ago in Norfolk, I believe, at a drum workshop with Modou Diouf. I have two sabra drums made by Modou, but no longer play them. One is 58 cm (22.75 inches) tall and the other is 39.5 cm (15.5 inches) tall.

    I would like to sell them but don’t know where best to do that. If you know anyone who wants to buy a sabar drum, I would be grateful that you contact me.

      Hi Carol! Nice to hear from you. The best way is to join the Facebook group called Sabardrumminguk (easy to find) and you can message me from there. If you send photos to me via there I’ll share them with the drumming community. Or you can private message me on my Facebook which is simply called Chandra Moon. Best wishes Chandra
